How Much Does a Pair of Glasses Cost?
We Believe in Offering Something Different
At Johnson & Leatherbarrow, quality comes first. As a family practice, we focus on taking exceptional care of our patients and offering eyewear that stands apart from the high street. We source frames from independent designers around the world—brands renowned for their unique designs, exceptional craftsmanship, and premium materials.
The same philosophy applies to our spectacle lenses. Your eye examination forms the foundation of great vision, but without quality lenses, even the most precise prescription can fall short. That's why we partner with companies who have earned their reputation through decades of innovation and excellence—names like Hoya (Japan), Zeiss (Germany) and Optiswiss (Switzerland).
What Does a Typical Pair of Glasses Cost?
We believe in transparency, not pushy sales. Our goal is to help you choose the right products for your eyes and your budget. The total cost is a combination of the frames you choose and the lenses that are included.
Here's what you can expect…
Frames
Our budget friendly range starts from £55. Whilst they are designed for those with budget in mind, we do not cut corners on quality. You can expect high quality materials, with unique and bold designs. Perfect for everyday wear.
Our core designer range is where most of our frames sit - with the price point being between £120 and £450. Expect unique designs using incredible materials, often being handmade in small factories within Europe, rather than mass market frames that are sold for their brand name alone.
We also offer some extremely special frames from £450 and above that are truly exceptional in their design, manufacturing process and materials.
Lenses
We have a starting point for lenses, and our recommended level. The starting point is for those who want to keep the costs to a minimum, whilst still having high quality eyewear that they can be proud of. The recommended level includes extras that we think should be on your lenses to help give you the very best vision, and help protect your eyes.
Single vision - starting point, £99. Recommended lenses from £129 - £449.
Varifocals - starting point, £149. Recommended lenses from £299 - £619.
